The Executive Bureau of the Council of Ministers of Labour and Ministers of Social Affairs in GCC States organized a panel discussion on GCC experiences and initiatives related to practices for protecting workers from heat stress, as part of its participation in the launch ceremony of the Heat Stress Campaign 2026, organized by the Workers’ Support and Insurance Fund in the State of Qatar.

The panel highlighted key efforts and practices adopted across GCC countries to mitigate the risks of heat stress in work environments, while also discussing initiatives aimed at enhancing worker protection and raising awareness of preventive measures associated with working in hot climatic conditions.

The session was moderated by Isa Aldirazi, Head of Corporate Communication at the Executive Bureau, with the participation of speakers from the Workers’ Support and Insurance Fund in Qatar, the Joint Labour Office in Qatar, and Qatar Red Crescent. Participants exchanged views on institutional, awareness-raising, and preventive roles in protecting workers from risks associated with rising temperatures.

The panel underscored the importance of continued exchange of expertise among relevant entities in GCC countries, as well as strengthened coordination in the field of occupational safety and health, in a manner that contributes to safer work environments and reinforces preventive practices aimed at protecting workers and safeguarding their health and safety.

The organization of this panel comes as part of the Executive Bureau’s commitment to supporting joint GCC initiatives in the fields of labour and occupational safety and health, and to highlighting leading national experiences that contribute to the development of worker protection systems across GCC member states.
