The Executive Bureau, represented by the Social Affairs Department, held the second meeting of the team responsible for implementing the third initiative of the GCC’s social development strategy. This initiative focuses on enhancing the relationship between the nonprofit sector and both the government and private sectors in GCC countries, with participation from the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council, the National Center for the Development of the Nonprofit Sector in Saudi Arabia, and specialists from the Ministries of Social Affairs/Development in GCC countries, via virtual communication.
During the meeting, the GCC countries’ plans to implement the initiative were reviewed, along with discussions on how to benefit from their experiences with the nonprofit sector. The meeting also reviewed the decision made by the Ministers of Social Affairs/Development in their 10th meeting, held in Doha in September 2024, urging member states to actively participate in the forum for senior officials dedicated to exchanging successful experiences in the field of “strengthening the relationship between the nonprofit sector and both the government and private sectors.” This forum will be hosted by Saudi Arabia during the first half of 2025.
