10/06/2026

The General Manager of the Executive Bureau – Council of Ministers of Labour & Ministers of Social Affairs in GCC, Mr. Mohammed bin Hassan AL-Obaidli, stressed that combating child labour requires an integrated approach based on quality education, social protection and effective legislation, alongside the use of modern technologies and artificial intelligence to strengthen monitoring, inspection and compliance.

His remarks came during a panel discussion titled “Red Card to Child Labour: From Marrakech to Action”, held on the sidelines of the 114th Session of the International Labour Conference in Geneva.

AL-Obaidli highlighted the importance of moving from reactive measures to preventive action through early-warning systems and better data integration to protect children before they are exposed to labour-market risks.

He also called for stronger regional and international cooperation and greater exchange of expertise, stressing that eliminating child labour is not only a development objective, but a shared ethical and humanitarian responsibility.
