10/06/2026
The Executive Bureau of the Council of Ministers of Labour and Ministers of Social Affairs in the GCC States has reaffirmed its support for international initiatives aimed at strengthening cooperation and sustainable partnerships regarding social protection for migrant workers. These efforts are designed to help develop policies and facilitate the exchange of expertise between countries of origin and destination.
This statement came during the participation of H.E. Mohammed bin Hassan Al-Obaidli, Director General of the Executive Bureau, in the launch of the Cross-Regional Dialogue Platform on Social Protection for Migrant Workers in the Asia-GCC Migration Corridor. The event was attended by representatives from governments, international organizations, and relevant partners.
The Executive Bureau highlighted that the platform serves as a practical mechanism for dialogue and the exchange of successful practices and expertise. Furthermore, it provides a space to showcase pioneering GCC initiatives in social protection and decent work, while discussing shared challenges and available opportunities to bolster cooperation between the GCC and labor-sending countries.
The Bureau noted that its participation in the platform aligns with its ongoing role in supporting joint GCC action, amplifying the presence of Gulf experiences in international forums, and contributing to the transfer and exchange of knowledge and expertise with partner countries and relevant international organizations.
