Executive Bureau Participates in Arab Coordination Meeting on Theatre Festival for Persons with Disabilities

H.E. Mr. Mohammed bin Hassan AL-Obaidli, Director General of the Executive Bureau of the Council of Ministers of Labour and Ministers of Social Affairs in the GCC, participated in a coordination meeting held with the Ministry of Social Solidarity of the Arab Republic of Egypt, alongside the Technical Secretariat of the League of Arab States, to discuss the organization of an Arab theatre festival for persons with disabilities.

The meeting explored ways to strengthen Arab cooperation in empowering persons with disabilities culturally and artistically, through supporting theatrical initiatives that highlight their creative potential and promote their social inclusion. It also addressed the proposed organizational frameworks for launching a specialized Arab festival in this field.

During the meeting, H.E. the Director General reviewed the GCC’s pioneering experience in organizing the Gulf Theatre Festival for Persons with Disabilities, which has been led by the Executive Bureau for nearly two decades. The festival has contributed to discovering and nurturing theatrical talents, while providing a sustainable creative platform for persons with disabilities across GCC countries.

H.E. emphasized the importance of building on this Gulf experience and expanding it at the Arab level to enhance knowledge exchange and further develop cultural initiatives supporting persons with disabilities. He also affirmed the Executive Bureau’s readiness to share its technical and organizational expertise in support of joint Arab efforts in this area.

This meeting reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen Arab partnerships and promote coordinated initiatives aimed at empowering persons with disabilities and supporting their active participation across cultural and social domains.
