The Executive Bureau of the Council of Ministers of Labour of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) convened the second extraordinary meeting of the Expert Team on labour and international relations to discuss the implications of current conditions on the workforce across GCC countries.

The meeting comes as part of ongoing GCC coordination efforts to monitor evolving developments and assess their potential impact on labour markets, ensuring their stability and continuity under the prevailing circumstances. It also builds on the outcomes of the first extraordinary meeting, reflecting the commitment of member states to sustained coordination, consultation, and unified action.

Discussions focused on reviewing the precautionary measures and actions taken by GCC countries to ensure the sustainability of work environments and the protection of workers’ rights, particularly in light of the uncertainty driven by regional developments. Participants also exchanged views on strengthening institutional readiness, enhancing coordination mechanisms, and ensuring the uninterrupted delivery of essential services to all segments of the workforce.
